Wireless Communication:
ITS Data and Information Structure

Description:

Most ITS applications have some component involving data flow to and from vehicles or remote sites. While a number of alternatives exist for accomplishing this two-way communication, some form of wireless data communication is necessary to address many of the specific communication needs. The overall objective of this project is to develop a framework in which to understand, select, and apply wireless data communications technology to ITS development in Washington State. This framework will guide the investment in wireless technologies for applications ranging from remote sensors and remote signalization control to in-vehicle and other traveler information applications.
